Running through a busy area near Tacoma, Leach Creek is an important waterway for local salmon. An aging and narrow culvert was hampering the fish's ability to migrate, so the cities of University Place and Lakewood teamed with the state to raise the necessary funds to replace the culvert and restore the road above it.

Utility Vault designed and built the custom culvert, which widened the passageway from five to thirty feet. The company employed its expertise in building reliable and environmentally sound concrete products to deliver a tailored solution to meet the needs of local communities, wildlife and the state of Washington.
